A musical production with songs from the Emmy Award-winning, Saturday morning cartoon series Pawtucket, R.I., April 18, 2007 – All Children’s Theatre (ACT), a non-profit, award-winning theatre company dedicated to the education and enrichment of Rhode Island youth, proudly presents “Schoolhouse Rock, Live!”. This nostalgic, educational production, under the direction of Anthony J. Victoria, performs May 12, 13, 19 & 20 at the Vartan Gregorian School Theatre in Providence.
Schoolhouse Rock started as an educational cartoon series in the 1970’s on the ABC network. Schoolhouse Rock clips aired between cartoons and taught grammar, mathematics, history, science and politics. Now a new generation enjoys the series after its release on DVD and it’s more popular than ever. In fact, Schoolhouse Rock is currently listed at #65 on the top selling DVDs at Amazon.com.
In the stage version, Schoolhouse Rock, Live, the audience follows Tom, a teacher who nervously prepares for his first day in the classroom. Tom is visited by different characters who remind him how to teach in a creative and exciting way, with music. Throughout the journey, the audience will enjoy popular songs from the series including “Just a Bill”, “Conjunction Junction”, “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly”, “Elbow Room”, and “Zero, My Hero”.
All Children's Theatre is partially supported by the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, VSA Arts of RI, and is a proud member of the Fund for Community Progress.
